Fans arrived late at Burlington NC's Carolina Sports Arena for a CWF Mid Atlantic TV Taping on a windy Saturday evening. Handicap action began the event with big newcomer Maverick squaring off against not one, but two of the Hooker brothers, Stoney & J.P. with manager Thomas "Boom Boom" Simpson at ringside. The gangly youngster sent his two smaller opponents running into the arms of their manager on several occassions before finally dividing his attention and attacking him from behind. Even with the kendo stick-weilding manager at ringside, the impressive Maverick kept focused and pinned both of the Hooker Brothers at the same time to the cheers of the fans.
The Rising Generation League Champion "Jersey" Nick Richards came to the ring next with the house mic and started demanding "quality" competition to face him for the belt. Fan-favorite Alex Adonis responded by interrupting with his own take on the situation and was blindsided by "Gate City Sinner" Trent Wylde with a steel chair. Richards then rolled up Adonis and Wylde dove to the canvas to make the three count. Adonis left the ring area obviously stunned and unsure of what had transpired.
An announcement was made that a message from a "returning CWF Superstar" was on video and the InsidersTron™ came to life with manager Brad "Fatback" Stutts and the recently missing in action "Handsome" Mitch Connor. The manager then began a medical explanation about a diagnosed broken neck on his team member, stating that the surgery went well and he'd soon be back in the ring as a member in good standing with Fatback Enterprises. Going on to explain the injuries also affected both his larnyx and vocal chords, Stutts stated that Connor was "back on board" and would no longer be "kissing babies and slapping hands with the fans" before walking out of the picture. Connor, seemingly upset at his manager's comments, tried to state that he'd be back on his own terms.
Visiting from Red River Valley NM, El Diablo made his entrance to do singles battle against Mark Van Hook. Before the bell could be rang Tank Lawson hit the ring with the house mic and questioned previous statements made by the current CWF Mid Atlantic Television Champion "High Definition" Steve Greene, dropped the mic and attacked both men. The official called for the bell and Lawson clobbered Diablo to the floor and turned his wrath on Van Hook. The youngster was pinned in just over a minute and a half and Lawson went looking for the masked man he'd previously dropped onto the floor. Dragging him into the ring, big Tank Lawson took apart the masked cowboy, forcing him to submit in under five minutes overall.
Fatback Enterprises' Matthew de Nero, "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel & Donnie Dollar$ made their way to the ring and de Nero began explaining how happy he is at being the "new #2" of his faction, only to be interrupted by his former tag team partner Mikael Yamaha. Yamaha took the mic and went off on the heart of the former "Rock N Roll" Matty Dee, triggering an attack by Fatback Enterprises three-on-one. Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride & Brass Munkey raced from the dressing room to even the odds and Commissioner William L. Cross hit the ring with a steel chair to regain control. Cross ordered a match to happen immediately, a rematch between Edsel & Dollar$ v. McBride & Munkey.
An official was called to the ring and he called for the bell, kicking off an impromptu rematch from the previous event. The veterans, all with history between them, went to work on tearing down the defenses of their opponents and testing each other's limits. McBride & Munkey were about to take the victory when Fatback Enterprises used a specific plan to divert the official's eyes to steal the win in the end.
The newly-won Ultra J Crown Champion Kamakazi Kid didn't sit on his laurels and accepted the challenge to put the title on the line in four-way competition. Michael McAllister, "Perfect Smile" Jerry Wayne & Roy "Rage" Wilkins were introduced with the masked star's entrance video setting the fans into a roar. All four men hooked it up in various combinations, battling all over the squared circle, with no one man standing out as a favorite. Kazi, however, soon took the battle to the top ropes, nailing Wilkins with a drop out of the skies before being ganged up on and sent in a painful thud to the concrete floor. The remaining combatants continued to battle for the belt, one breaking the pinfall attempt of the other until Kamakazi rose to the ring apron and finally climbed to the top ropes. Wilkins rushed toward the corner as Kazi leapt over and around him onto the prone McAllister on the canvas for a three count to retain the Ultra J Crown Championship.
Singles action kicked off the post-intermission session with Sheik Lumpkin entering the arena with the "Italian Assassin" Gregory Vercetti for a singles tilt against the popular new addition to Destiny "Leelicious" Lee Valiant. Surprisingly, the two accomplished grapplers kept the battle on the canvas for the most part, with momentum swinging at a slower pace than one would expect between athletes of their caliber. With a little help on the outside by the devious Sheik, Valiant found himself climbing the turnbuckles with the referee checking on the condition of his opponent, allowing the manager to interfere. Outnumbered and overpowered, the charismatic Valiant overcame both obstacles to pull out an impressive pinfall win in under fifteen minutes.
The only representative of the VIPs present, Jesse "El Fuego" Ortega hit the ring with both the CWF Mid Atlantic Tag Title and CWA Carolinas Heavyweight straps in tow. Announcing that he would still be happy to hold up his end of the match for a possible shot at Ric Converse's CWF Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Title. Sheik Lumpkin interrupted the proceedings, with the big "Militant M.A.K." Marcellus King in tow. Offering his big enforcer as a tag partner, Ortega agreed and Dynasty entered the arena. Xsiris & "the 1st" Ric Converse cleared the ring, sending the meddling manager hard to the floor well before the bell rang to begin the contest. Nearly a brawl, the bout began and continued with all four members of the battle getting in devestating blows on their opponents. The Ortega-King team began to take control, keeping a fatigued Converse from making a tag to his fresh partner on the ring apron. From the entryway an unexpected Ty Dillinger emerged, walking to the corner to make sure that both Ortega & King saw him at ringside. This allowed Converse to make a tag and for Dynasty to regroup after a couple of high-impact Xsiris suicidal moves evened the score. Xsiris scored the pinfall, winning the right to challenge the CWF Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions VIPs for the titles along with partner Kamakazi Kid.
