Fatback Changing Stripes?; Converse Calls Out Kazi; King Wins #1 Contender Scramble; & Valiant Pours His Heart Out at CWF's HEARTACHE TONIGHT!

Carolina Sports Arena

Burlington NC

05.02.09

The return of manager Brad "Fatback" Stutts to the CWF ring kicked off CWF's HEARTACHE TONIGHT at Burlington NC's Carolina Sports Arena. In an extended monologue, Stutts, surrounded by "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel, "Jersey" Nick Richards & the Fatback Girls, discussed the things which have happened to him in his personal life recently, including his own marriage and his father being ill. He went on to discuss the difference between "home" and "work" and then asked Alex Adonis out to the ring. The fan-favorite entered and listened as Stutts described how one of "his" girls has recently been going to the ring with Adonis during his suspension, and gave her the opportunity to make a choice of who she would rather accompany. Choosing Adonis over Fatback Enterprises, the two left the ring with no threat of violence as Stutts concluded his obviously well thought out statements.

Fatback's Richards, already at ringside, was introduced for the first match of the evening, going into a singles tilt against up-and-coming Chase Dakota. Grappling broke out on the sounding of the bell, with Dakota battling off the determined Richards in a standing position. The match continued at a stalemate, with neither opponent gaining an advantage over the other, prompting "Jersey" Nick to call out to his manager for a hand at ringside. Stutts refused, vocally, telling his young charge that he was "doing fine" on his own. Richards reverted to the technical side of his earliest training, making gains in the bout on his own ability. Dakota poured it on late, but was unable to kick out when Richards dropped him on his back at the 6:35 mark of the bout.

Hot and cold Cecil Scott was out next for singles action against former TV and Tag champion Tank Lawson. The big "Tankliner", who has just recently returned from knee injury, was actually stunned by the attack of Scott, who smartly continued to add to the misery of his opponent. Lawson battled back to his feet after each attack, eventually landing a convincing shot to Scott, which sent him flying to the canvas. The big man finished off Scott with a variation of his stunner finisher, taking the duke in under five minutes.

Rising Generation League Champion Chiva Kid entered for non-title singles action against Aftermath's "the 1st" Ric Converse, who arrived in street clothes with an attitude. Attacking the young Mexican masked star before the bell, Converse tried to injure the knee before locking on the Figure Four Leglock. Chiva Kid had no choice but to submit in under a minute, but then realized that not only Converse, but William L. Cross & Marcellus "Mid Atlantic" King as well, were determined to injure him, grabbing steel chairs. Additional referees rushed to the ring, trying to take the chairs from Converse as he approached the injured Chiva Kid. Spotting Kamakazi Kid at ringside attempting to help the RGL Champion from the ring, Converse called him out for counting the pinfall against him at the CWF Bunkhouse Stampede, where he was guest referee. Kazi climbed through the ropes into the ring and went back and forth verbally with the former five-time champion. Challenges and jokes were made, finally angering the former masked star to a point where he delivered a textbook roundhouse kick to the back of the head of Converse, who crumpled to the canvas face-down.

Six-man action was up next as Destiny's "Infamous Icon" Joey Silvia, "High Definition" Steve Greene & Ty Dillinger entered to face Roy "Rage" Wilkins, Arik Royale & "Memphis" Matt Smith. Silvia & Greene handled most of the in-ring chores for their team, singling out and beating down the game young Smith, who'd been drug into the wrong corner. Dillinger finally tagged in and was angered by the nerve of Smith, who kicked out before the manager could pin him. The battle became a brawl, with all six competitors in conflict all around the arena. Wilkins inflicted punishment on the floor as Royale made his way into the bout, sending all of the Destiny members out of the ring one at a time. Silvia & Greene recovered and grabbed Wilkins, thrusting him over their heads and then driving him to the canvas to allow a three-count, ending once again in a controversial fashion.

Assistant Commissioner Cornelius J. Lumpkin was out next with announcements about next week's PWS crossover show in Burlington NC, and then called out heavyweight champion Brass Munkey. Informing the champ that he "had the night off" due to the incredible string of successful title defenses to date, Munkey addressed the fans before taking a seat. Following the announcements the Four Way Scramble for the #1 Contender's rating was introduced. Aftermath's Marcellus King w/William L. Cross entered, followed by Fatback Enterprises' "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel, Alex Adonis w/Crystal Clear & Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride. Brawls broke out all over the arena as the four each refused to stand by while anyone else was battling, fighting in the ring and on the concrete around the ring. King tasted the steel ringpost courtesy of Adonis as McBride & Edsel renewed hostilities. Changing partners in brutality, the battle escalated until McBride tossed super-heavyweight Edsel from the top turnbuckles away from the prone Adonis. King took advantage of the situation, sliding back into the ring to make a cover and win the guaranteed title shot. CWF Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Brass Munkey, who watched the bout from the front row with friends, extended the challenge to King to bring his best for the title.

Manager Ty Dillinger led out challenger VIP Jesse "El Fuego" Ortega for the scheduled main event TV Title bout against champion Lee Valiant. Valiant immediately asked for more time, saying he wanted it to properly beat up Ortega. The traditional 10 minute TV time limit was changed to fifteen minutes before Dillinger complained that he wanted more time. The announcement was almost immediate that there would be NO time limit with the title on the line until a winner was decided. With the ringing of the bell, the two charged each other like bulls, with sparks flying as the two began to battle for for the TV title strap. The bout spilled onto the concrete floor, sprawled back into the ring and rolled back out onto the floor again before Ortega took an advantage of the champion on the canvas, trying to stretch him like a working-man's budget. As the match continued, Valiant turned the tables, countering everything the challenger could muster. Silvia & Greene each hit the ring, only to be ejected over the top rope by the fired-up TV champ. After being clubbed from behind by Ortega, manager Dillinger pulled the champion onto steel chairs at ringside. Ortega ascended the turnbuckles, sailing over the top rope onto the suddenly-vacant steel chairs. Valiant got the pinfall win moments after Ortega re-entered the ring.

However...The Destiny returned to the ring, with Dillinger & Ortega, grabbing the house mic to blast away at Valiant. After minutes of lambasting the TV Champion about his personal life, learned from their time as teammates, Valiant nearly broke down emotionally at ringside. Dillinger continued to pour it on, threatening everyone from Jimmy Valiant to his girlfriend. Valiant finally cleared his thoughts and answered the demand to surrender the TV Title to Ortega, and it was a resounding NO!. Valiant caught his breath and cleared the ring, firm in his committment to defend the title for his people in the stands.
