Randy Hedrick's Real World

This is the sign that I fabricated at ANDCO Industries for Duke University Medical Center in Durham NC. This sign won several Signs Of The Times Awards, and was featured on the cover of their magazine. It also graced the front cover of the ANDCO Product Catalog for many years.

All Signs Fabricated by Randy Hedrick!

This custom fabricated sign is shown outside of Signature Signs for a photo session. Holding the sign up are Barry and Jesse, with Allen directing traffic.

Here's the same sign as above during the fabrication process, being prepared for finishing.

This is the lovely Olympic Family Restaurant in Kernersville NC. This building's Greek-inspired design was perfect for backlit fabricated letters that I fabricated, made in the restaurant's custom letter style from their menus. The "Family Restaurant" letters were manufactured by Gemini Products.

These are the Richmond International Raceway logos that bracket the 48" aluminum fabricated neon-lit fabricated letters. Fabricated in 2000, these signs had plexiglas faces with exterior-applied translucent vinyl making up the actual logo.

Here is the entire set of letters, along with the logos from the above picture, lit up at the 2001 Nascar night event at the Richmond International Raceway.

This is the almost-completed hang-on sign I built at Signature Signs. The object of the hang-on sign is to be able to locate a large internally illuminated sign cabinet around an existing pole and under an existing sign.

Here's the same sign as above, as seen before the City of High Point NC decided that the church was in violation of a city sign ordinance by having their name on the off premisis sign permanently.

This little project was fabricated at Signature Signs of nothing but sheet metal and saddle bracings. No internal frame, this sign's rigity cames from the 90 degree breaks in the metal.

This is a sign I made of MDO plywood with vinyl lettering. And they say that no one makes wooden signs any more!

Here's a shot of the fabricated logo of the Philadelphia Flyers NHL team while being marked on the mounting pattern. This logo was fabricated at Signature Signs.

The first type of sign I sank my teeth on, way back in the day, was the architectural standard, refered to in the industry as "post and panel" signage. This little piece was fabricated at Signature Signs.

One of the most challenging tasks in the aluminum fabrication end of the sign business is to make a set of letters that will be anodized. The anodizing process, which makes a color a permanent part of the metal, requires near perfection on the part of the welder. Anodized pieces can not be sanded, ground upon or have any welding marks, as they would be very outstanding on the finished product.

These gold anodized letters were fabricated at Signature Signs, and formed by the "Grand Creator" Joel Spivey.

Here's a location shot for one of many signs I fabricated for the nation of Saudi Arabia. This bi-lingual post and panel sign was fabricated at ANDCO Industries and featured embedded fiberglas faces for durability against the desert sun.

Here's another location shot from Saudi Arabia. This particular job was one of many we fabricated for the nation of Saudi Arabia. While at ANDCO, we also fabricated the signage for the King Khalid Military Airport, a brushed aluminum and neon project.

Here's a recent project I fabricated in Kernersville NC. These channel letters are lit by single stroke neon with acrylic faces with jewelite.

Here's part of another set of fabricated letters, the top half of the popular Bed Bath & Beyond chain's logo, fabricated in Kernersville NC.

This is a fabricated aluminum site sign featuring reverse screen-printed clear acrylic faces. Chad (with back to camera) and Jesse are helping assemble the sign as I'm sneaking off to take the picture.

Here's another project I fabricated, a 48" set of non-illuminated letters for the Martinsville Speedway.

Here's the finished product, gracing the turns 1-2 area above the grandstands

Here's one of my first custom vehicle graphic jobs, a reflective vinyl custom Goodyear logo, applied to the rear doors of a NASCAR trailer. Trailer courtesy of Parnell Tires.

Here's a side shot of the same trailer inside the shop after application of vinyl. Notice the 6 color Parnell Tire logo on the left-hand side of the trailer.

This is a very rare shot of a finished fabricated aluminum logo. The rare part being that it was ONLY logo ever fabricated at Distinctive Signs of Greensboro NC. (Chuckle chuckle)

The Signature Sign Company paint booth, loaded down with components for ATM surrounds I fabricated for Raleigh Savings Bank.

An ATM surround after finishing, but before assembly at Signature Signs.

The top photo was taken while these directories were being prepped for finishing. The bottom photo shows a completed directory, ready to be installed. Fabricated at Signature Signs.

One of my favorite pieces has to be this very Roman-influenced site sign for the Hampshire in Greensboro NC. This sign was fabricated with columns ordered from a home-improvement catalog, which were actually three seperate interlocking pieces. This sign was fabricated at Signature Signs with the help of Jesse.

Here's another low-end shop project, a flat commercial .040 aluminum sign to be hung on a chain-link fence.

This custom fabricated sign featured a changable menu-type board covered with clear acrylic and internally illuminated. Built at Signature Signs, this sign exhibits all of the traits of custom architectural signage.
